Here at SCSH, our broodmares are truly the foundations of our breeding program. Our mares are carefully selected for their conformation, temperaments, pedigrees, movement and performance records. We value and appreciate each of them, and chose only the stallions that compliment each one for breeding.

Our broodmare band is comprised of Warmblood and Sport Horse mares, representing registries such as CSHA, CWHBA and RPSI, as well as Welsh and Sport Pony mares, active in their respective associations. We select hunter, jumper and dressage bred mares, to compliment the stallions we stand. Temperament is paramount for us, but we also look for a mare with above average gaits, top conformation, and a good pedigree. Our clients range from amateur owners to seasoned professionals, and we pride ourselves on producing amateur-friendly mounts, without compromising on the quality of the horse.

We have a secondary broodmare band, consisting of Percheron and Percheron cross mares, that we breed exclusively for offspring destined for police Mounted Units. These mares are bred to our black Hanoverian stallion SS Windalore, for a cross the refines the mares, and adds quality movement, but retains the sturdy, sound build desired for police work. The mares we select for the Mounted Unit Breeding Program are big, heavy mares, 16.2-17h+, with very mild, quiet temperaments, that are correct in build, with excellent feet. We only use grey and black mares in this program, but only dark offspring are retained for the program. Grey offspring are sold to the general public as hunt horses, and great amateur hunter/jumper and dressage mounts. *We're always actively looking for large, black Percheron or Percheron cross mares.
